365 Days of Flurff

In 2021, I was depressed. I lacked purpose and inspiration in my life. Despite working full-time in the creative industry, I hadn't drawn regularly for over a decade. The simple joy I once felt for creating art was replaced with feelings of pointlessness and anxiety. On a whim, I gave myself a challenge to get out of this rut: draw my rescue cat, Flurff, for 365 days straight. The goal wasn’t daily artistic perfection (I would’ve failed immediately), but to fall in love with making art again without pressure or personal judgment. If any subject could keep me motivated, it was my snaggletoothed, ear-tipped, formerly feral street cat, Flurff.

The project reignited my passion for painting and I am forever grateful to Flurff for helping me find my purpose again. He passed away a few months after the series ended, as if he was waiting until he knew I was going to be okay.

Daily Perpetual Calendar

I turned the project into a daily calendar that shows all the good days and very bad days in order, paired with relevant quotes throughout history on motivation, creativity, and (of course) cats to inspire your own creative endeavors.

You'll continue on in my heart & art, Flurff. Love you always.
